Do you have a testimony of scouting???

I have to admit that my "testimony" of the scouting program is quite weak. I've even been a Den Mother for a time. I do think it's wonderful to have good influences in our children's lives..and that is something I can feel positive about(Derek's leaders have always been stellar)
Well, last night my "testimony" was strengthened (although I still think Round Table stinks:))
Derek received his Arrow of Light Award. The highest award given in the Cub Scouting program. He was properly honored and sent over the bridge (literally) to Boy Scouts. Mom and Dad would be proud. They are avid scouters....

Here is Derek being welcomed to Scouting and given his new Boy Scout manual by the 11 yr old scout leader. There is even an 11 yr old scout there to greet him.

Derek is showing off the new arrow that was made just for him. Complete with horse hair, turkey feathers etc. (By this time he was tired of pics)

The Cub Master had him light 7 torches that each represent an attribute he has and will continue to develop...wisdom, courage, self-control, justice, faith, hope, and love.

Preparing to cross the bridge....
I was appreciative of all the effort that went into this event and all leading up to it. Many people worked together to bless the life of my boy and for that I'm grateful.

I guess we'll stick it out a few more years...

I hope I can be positive about it when my boys start. I have no doubt I'll be a den mother for quite a while. Wish me luck!!

Way to go, Derek! He's totally worth the effort of all those people.

I know what you mean about struggling with your "testimony" of scouting. When I was in the Primary Presidency, I was over scouting and I didn't really "get" it. UGGH! Guess I will eventually since I just had a boy. (And yes, Louise will definitely be involved with scouting for many years to come!) Way to go Derek!

Oh, the fun stuff we have to look forward to! :) Derek is looking so grown up all of the sudden, it's probably cuz I haven't seen him in a long time.

wow that is great. I really struggle with scouts also, I hate it, and my boys think they are to busy to do it. I think that's great that they love it. Good luck

Way to go, Derek! Yes, Mima and Papa are very proud of you. Scouting is lots of fun because there is so much you can learn. You will do great.

I can't believe how old Derek is getting! Congrats on the achievement! I hear ya about scouting. My first introduction was when they were passing you all the stuff about rechartering at one of our presidency meetings and I sat there thinking, "I'm sooo glad that's not me." Well, serves me right because I have been second counselor for over two years now and just finished my third rechartering experience!! Oh, and sorry for the late comment, but no, none of Kyle's interviews are in Arizona. :-(
